Search Pages

Blue Kollar has many search pages throughout it's portal. Typically, each search page contains search criteria inputs along with search results based on the values entered into those criteria.

Search Criteria

Each search page will have typically have three buttons at the top of each page...

  • Search will retrieve results based on your entered search criteria.
  • Clear will reset the search criteria back to its default.
  • New will add a new record based on the type of data the search page represents.

Each search page will also have one or more search criteria inputs. These inputs could be text inputs, numeric inputs, date inputs, switch inputs, selection inputs, autocomplete inputs, or multiple selection autocomplete inputs.

  • Text inputs are free form and accept any kind of text input. Generally speaking, these inputs support partial searches. For example, you could enter Somewhere if you are wanting to find an address of 123 Somewhere St. As another example, you could enter "noog" if you were looking for the city Chattanooga.
  • Numeric inputs will accept any valid number. Some inputs may have requirements such as being positive numbers or a number within a range of numbers.
  • Date inputs will accept any valid date. Some date inputs may be associated with selection inputs to quickly enter date ranges such as last week, last month, or last year.
  • Switch inputs are yes/no inputs. Turning on a switch is the same as responding as "yes" to whatever they describe as a search criteria.
  • Selection inputs are lists of selections of which you can only select one.
  • Autocomplete inputs are similar to selection inputs. The biggest different is that they typically have several items in their list. This list is easier to navigation by allowing you to enter some characters to filter the list.
  • Multiple selection autocomplete inputs are very similar to autocomplete inputs. The only difference is that you can selection multiple items within these inputs. Generally, you can use the backspace key to remove selected items or press the small X located on the far right of the input.

Search Results

Search results will be displayed after pressing the search button at the top of the search page. Generally, results are limited to the first 250 results. A warning message will be displayed if this happens. Please enter more specific search criteria to get more specific results. Typical search results are show below with important descriptions...

Example Search Results
  1. Results can be limited to a count per page. The default is 10 with up to 100 permitted. This setting are remembered per search page.
  2. Results can be exported to CSV files (Excel compatible). Some exported results may contain more data (columns) that what is displayed within the visible results.
  3. Results can be maximized to take advantage of larger screens. Pressing the maximize button a second will restore the results to their smaller view.
  4. Columns may be sorted. The two small arrows to the right of each column header will indicate whether the column is currently sorted and in which direction it is being sorted.
  5. Each search result row may have an associated Action Menu. These are identified as 3 dots stacked on top of one another. These menus provide additional functionality for the selected results. Generally, each action menu will have at least the following options...
    1. View In New Tab will open the selected result in a new browser tab.
    2. Remove will deactivate the selected result.
    3. History will display the known data changes for the selected result.
  6. Each search result will typically have one or more links. The first column generally is the primary link that should be used for editing the selected result. Similar to the View In New Tab action menu items, these links can be clicked using a mouse's middle button to be viewed in a new browser tab. Most modern mice support this. Typically, the scroll wheel of a mouse is used to do this.
  7. Search results can be additionally filtered using the Filter input. The text you enter into this input will help filter the search results. Only the results containing the entered text will be shown.
  8. A list of pages is shown based on the number of results per page. You can easily skip between pages by selecting them in this list.
  9. A count is shown to let you know which results you are currently viewing along with how many total results are available.
